| POSITION DESCRIPTION |
- Intern for sports industry web directory. Position
requires extensive research, especially Internet research. Marketing
duties including promotion of site and contacting sports industry
professionals. A significant amount of data entry will accompany both the
research and marketing parts of the internship.
- This is a remote position (can be done anywhere in
U.S.) and over 95% of communication between intern and management will be
done via email.
- The ideal candidate is most likely a student who
has ample free time, a permanent high-speed Internet connection, access to
own personal computer (will need to download and utilize some software),
and a strong interest in the sports industry.
- We would like someone to begin work in the summer
(2003) and continue through the academic year (2003-04).

| DUTIES |

- Examining user-submitted sites
to see if such sites meet standards and qualifications of Sports Links
Central.com and determine appropriate category placement.
|
- Major editorial role in
Sports Links Central.com SpotLight. (This is a section
of the site that is currently under development and an interested intern
will be afforded the ability to take a major role in
Sports Links Central.com insight on particular aspects of the sports
industry.)
|
- Ability to take leadership role in developing new
category/section of the site in which the intern has particular
interest/expertise.

- Regular Web site maintenance, including manually
checking pages for dead or outdated links
|

- Inquisitive mind and willingness to search Internet
relentlessly

- Knowledge of MS Word,
Excel, Access or general computer knowledge and willingness to learn

- Peruse
Sports Links Central.com and informally include in the body of the
email three suggestions/comments about the Web site. This is rather
informal but we would like to see some demonstration of recognizing the
strengths/weaknesses of the site. Suggestions for what to include in
this part are items that should be added to the site; new categories;
criticism/evalatuion of site navigation; other features that should be
added; evaluation of what the stronger/weaker parts of the site are; and
anything else you can think of to fulfill this assignment. This
is really an open-ended assignment which provides the opportunity for an
applicant to demonstrate the ability to think critically and familiarity
with
Sports Links Central.com.
