From EASM is word that sport management education is spreading to Morocco. South Africa has had sport management education for many years. However, this is my first knowledge of sport management programs in other parts of the continent. Additionally, the spread of sport management education is getting another boost with the formation of the Asian Association for Sport Management. Both of these developments indicate that our field is still in the growth stages worldwide. We will look forward to watching and, in some cases, assisting, in the organizational growth of our continental colleagues.
2. EASM WEBSITE
Information on EASM mission, structure, activities and
services may be easily located on EASM WEB site:http://www.easm.org . Through
the website it is possible to access the whole list of all the papers presented
at the EUROPEAN CONGRESSESS OF SPORT MANAGEMENT from 1993 to 2001, and the list
of all the articles published in the EUROPEAN JOURNAL FOR SPORT MANAGEMENT
(1994-2000) and in the EUROPEAN SPORT MANAGEMENT QUARTERLY (2001), which has
replaced the old journal and is now edited by Trevor Slack (De Montfort
University). A new section on national events and initiatives is also
available.
3. INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP: In the last few months EASM has significantly strengthened its relations with international associations active in the sport sector: formal agreements have been signed with ENSSEE (European Network of Sport Science, Education and Employment) and IASI (International Association for Sport Information). Further partnerships are also developing with ICCSPE, the European Network for Sport and Tourism, and the European Observatoire of Sport Employment.
4. NEW NATIONAL AND REGIONAL INITIATIVES: EASM is enlarging the network of
affiliated and associate organisations. Beside Italy, Greece, Portugal, new
associations are developing in Spain and Israel. EASM is also helping to
establish a sport management association in Morocco.
